In September Cliff and Ian headed to Italy to attend a couple of international trade shows.
Firstly they visited the Cersaie exhibition in Bologna. A huge show with many, many ceramic tile manufacturers showcasing their new products. Ceramics is a big industry in Italy and most of the exhibitors were Italian, whilst there were also representatives from other nations including Spain and Germany.
The use of porcelain for external paving has been commonplace in Europe for the last few years and more and more it is being used in this country due to it’s low maintenance. Improved technology has also meant that more high quality finishes can be applied to the porcelain nowadays and so there are many designs to choose from.
Whilst the majority of exhibitors were concentrating on internal tiles a substantial number of manufacturers were displaying 20mm thick outdoor paving.
A number of products are under consideration, so look out for the new Kebur Porcelain range coming soon!
The second show they attended was the Marmomacc Fair in Verona. This show, in it’s 51st edition is the largest dedicated to the natural stone business in the world and attracts exhibitors and visitors from all over the world.
The show has four sections; Machinery & Equipment, Tools & Chemicals, Unprocessed Stone and finally what is of interest to us; Stone & Design.
The show represents an excellent chance for us to catch up with existing suppliers and also meet potential new ones with their latest products and ideas.
Of course not all Natural Stone is suitable to be used as external paving in the UK, but there are a number of new lines that Kebur are considering to introduce to the range for 2017. Kebur currently imports Natural Stone paving from India, China, Vietnam, Egypt and Portugal but there were also limestones, sandstones, granite, slate and marble from countries such as Turkey, Morocco, Italy, Croatia, Brazil and Greece that all caught the eye!
