APL A Place to Meet Again Garden wins award at RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival

We are delighted to have sponsored this Silver Gilt award winning garden at Hampton Court Garden Festival 2021 for the Association for Professional Landscapers (APL). The garden, designed by Mike Long, has also won the Best in Lifestyle Garden category award.

As well as donating some of our favourite porcelain and natural stone products, our talented landscapers have led the installation, collaborating with 12 other APL member organisations. Thank you to Craig, Anthony, Cameron and George of our Landscape Division for their tremendous effort and achievement.

Collaborating to champion high quality landscaping

We believe a garden should be a long-term investment. So it’s a great privilege for us to support the APL in its role in boosting standards across the industry. Working alongside some of the industry’s best landscapers to create this build has been hugely rewarding. David Booton, Business Partner at Kebur, said, “Leading the construction of a show garden is always a challenge to relish, especially when it involves collaborating with the best in the industry. We’re very excited this year to be showcasing how landscapers can use our high-quality paving alongside re-purposed everyday objects; reducing their environmental impact whilst creating an enticing place to socialise”.

Products we’ve used in the APL A Place to Meet Again Garden

Brazilian Black Slate paving (900 x 600mm slabs) are cut down and used as linear pathways and coping stones are used on the top of the wall. The paving is also used vertically to clad the sides of the sunken seating area.

Characterful Asian Blue Limestone setts are found repeated throughout the design: in the rill, on the wall, along pathways and in the sunken seating area, including as a coping stone.

The planters that edge the garden are constructed using Styleclad Great Metals Black porcelain cladding, which has a subtle sheen and beautifully highlights the varied white and green colour-tones of the planting.

As well as our unique paving range, Kebur also supply all the basics you would need for any landscaping project, from the ground up: from concrete blocks to cement, and jointing products to joists. We deliver locally and nationwide. See our online shop.

Promoting sustainable garden design

The creative design by Mike Long is an exemplar of responsible and resourceful design; blending old with new, with no compromise on style. Using scaffold boards and poles for the bar, decking and pergola, a salvaged rainwater harvester, pipework and taps, pallet timber and reinforced steel joists, the garden shows how the varied textures of weathered and worn materials can inject character to a space.

As a business, Kebur is absolutely committed to stepping up our focus on responsible sourcing. As standard, we supply high quality, durable materials with a long life-span, and follow the Ethical Trade Initiative Base Code. And we’re continually looking for ways we can improve. This year, for example, we’re:

  • Funding vital work to plant trees and protect established woodland for every sale of our Contempo Natural Stone paving including the Brazilian Black Slate used at Hampton Court. Look out for our Pledge to Plant and Protect logo on our product pages
  • Stocking an increasing range of lower carbon materials with recycled content
  • Trialling innovative new products like the 90% reduced carbon K-Briq brick slips used in this project
  • Boosting local biodiversity through supporting our local wildlife trust
